Every year, during the first week of March, government agencies join forces to share consumer safety and scam prevention tips during National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW)

This year, USAGov will lead conversations on X (formerly Twitter) to connect people to actionable tips and resources from across the government. If you’re part of a government agency, we invite you to take part in this year’s English and Spanish language chats on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 1 PM and 3 PM ET, respectively.

During the chats, we:

  • Host a live Q&A event in collaboration with agency partners to bring attention to their official resources and social media accounts
  • Respond to the most popular consumer questions inspired by our audience
  • Amplify these conversations through a unique hashtag

We’re encouraging the public to follow us on X at @USAGov and @USAGovEspanol during the event. They can also follow along with the campaign hashtag #NCPW2024 or the unique chat hashtags for each event:

  • #SlamTheScamChat for the USAGov event
  • #OjoConLasEstafas (eyes on the scam) for the USAGov en Español event

Agency experts from the Federal Trade Commission, Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service, AmeriCorps, and more will share how to spot red flags, stay alert to this year’s common scam tactics, and report them to the authorities.

Don’t miss out! If your agency has consumer safety and scam prevention resources that you’d like to share during these chats, reach out to usamarketing@gsa.gov to RSVP, access more chat details, and connect with other agencies before the events.

During NCPW, we can work together to meet people where they are with the government information they need to stay safe and alert to scams year-round.
