Entry bubble Enter the USA.gov Video Contest

By: Jess | February 18, 2010 | Category: Fun

Every day at GovGab we show you all kinds of ways we use the information we find on USA.gov.

But now we're turning the tables and we want to hear from you. We're running a video contest, asking you to make a 30- to 90-second video showing us how you use USA.gov to make your life better. The winner will receive a $2,500 prize. If that's not an incentive, I don't know what is.

Did you find passport information so you could go on a wonderful vacation?

Did you find loan or grant information to go to college or start your own business?

What has USA.gov done for you?

The contest starts on Monday, February 22 and runs until Friday, April 2. You can find the complete rules at USA.gov/contest.

So get those creative wheels turning. Create a video, upload it to our contest group on YouTube and fill out the entry form and you could win $2,500.

And pass the word on to friends and family. We can't wait to see the videos you submit!

Entry bubble For the People

By: Jess | July 02, 2009 | Category: Fun

If you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, you probably know by now that we are all about sharing information with you through a variety of different channels. You can visit all of our many Web sites, USA.gov, GobiernoUSA.gov, Pueblo.gsa.gov, Consumeraction.gov and more. You can also find us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

And every year we put out a public service campaign to tell you all about our services. We've recently released our newest television commercial and I wanted to share it with you. Our theme this year was a takeoff of "We are the World." So you can expect to see and hear some awesome singing by some very talented actors.

Check out both versions. The 60-second version is all about USA.gov and the great stuff you can find there, like applying for Social Security or renewing a passport or driver's license.

The 15-second commercial is all about 1-800-FED-INFO, the phone number you can call to get just about any government question answered.

If you're anything like me, you'll have the song stuck in your head for the rest of the day!

Update:

I got a comment asking for the direct links to our Facebook profiles so I've included all our social media links below!

Entry bubble You. Me. Thanksgiving.

By: Nancy | November 27, 2008 | Category: Home and Family

Here we are again for the second year in a row:  You. Me. Turkey Day. If you won't ask me what I'm doing blogging all by myself on Thanksgiving, I won't ask you why you're reading a blog today instead of watching to see which balloon pops first in the Macy's Parade. Or eating a hunk of pie. Or, ideally, doing both at the same time.

Jake's already given you lots of great Thanksgiving tips from USA.gov and around the government web to help you make sure that—

Regardless of how you're celebrating today, you'll know the story of what happened that first Thanksgiving...

You'll practice safe food handling in preparing your turkey...

You'll know what to do with all those leftovers...

Yep, we've covered it all now, except for one thing—what we're thankful for here at Gov Gab headquarters:

You.

Thank you for stopping by, for reading, commenting, emailing us, and for telling your friends and your coworkers about Gov Gab.p

When we're counting our blessings today, we're thinking of you.
