Entry bubble Inauguration Day

By: Joanne | January 20, 2009 | Category: General

Jill Biden, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Michelle ObamaToday, Barack Obama and Joe Biden will be sworn-in as President and Vice President of the United States. You can watch the Swearing-In ceremony live online beginning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern.

In the evening, there will be the first-ever Neighborhood Ball, a nationwide celebration -- and you don't have to be in the nation's capital to join in the festivities.

ABC will broadcast the Washington, D.C. Neighborhood Ball beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST, and people at Neighborhood Balls across the country will be sending in photos and videos of their celebrations. Some may even be featured in the official Inaugural book.

You are encouraged to share your own photos and stories.

You can also text OBAMA to 56333 for instructions on how to send in messages and pictures from your mobile phone.

I think it's going to be an interesting day!  What are your plans?

I am hoping that I will get some free time at work to watch the historic swearing in of President-elect Obama.

I just want to say thank you to GovGab and USAGov for sharing your experiences during this historic time with us. You all are doing a great job.

I am trying to peek in back and forth online to catch the news. Not a tv in sight and the government blocks live stream on the networks, so I'll only get a second hand experience today :0(

It must be with this generation of citizens that we prevail, for united we stand and divided we fall. A profound sapping of confidence is sweeping the nation

"the challenges we face are real - know this america, they will be met"

"The time has come to set aside childish things"

"All are equal, all are free, and all are given a chance to pursue their measure of happiness."

"It has been the risktakers - the doers - the people who make things"

"Our capacity remains undiminished."

"we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start living like americans"

"we will restore science to it's rightful place, and wield technology to make medicine better"

"A new era of responsibility"

The buzz on the National Mall during the inauguration can not be put into words. People cried with tears of joy and many verbalized a newfound feeling of hope, unity and happiness. It was definitely the turning of a corner for citizens to show their support towards government in such a way.

I'm sure it was an amazing scene on the mall. From what I can tell, it was a really emotional day for everyone outside the beltway too. It's a powerful force and I too hope all these good feelings can help us all work together and get good things done. Count me in : )
