Entry bubble I Love Living in America Because...

By: Ginger | July 03, 2009 | Category: General

American flag hanging in front of an antique shopThere are things that we all wish were better with our country. Like you, I think I pay too much in taxes (I have yet to meet a person who thinks he doesn't pay enough). I get monumentally annoyed and disgusted when our political leaders get caught doing unethical things. I get frustrated with the red tape and the rigamarole that seems to accompany some of my interactions with the government, and I get angry when I hear my tax dollars are occasionally wasted on stupidity.

It would be easy to sit and gripe all day about our government, but tomorrow is July 4th, a day we celebrate all that is good with our country. Our founding fathers risked their lives to declare their independence. They created this country on some basic principles that hopefully we all believe in even today. Throughout our history people have served and sacrificed for our country to advance the ideas of freedom of speech, equality, and representation. These are rights that many people in other countries don't have or are struggling to obtain.

There are many reasons for all of us to be proud of our country. I would like to see us all set aside the sniping and griping for this one day and think about why we appreciate living in the United States. Please express your heart-felt birthday wishes by sending in a comment. How would you finish this thought, “I love living in America because...”

I will get us started: “I love living in America because I work for a government that allows me to write blogs that are totally my own (complete with embarrassing stories and quirky details. I have the freedom to express criticisms about my government and no one calls me a traitor, slaps handcuffs on me, or throws me in jail for doing so.”

I love living in America because the government and socieity are always advancing as evidenced in the phrase "in order to form a more perfect union" I think we forget that at times

I love living in America, because of the freedom we have, that should not be taken for granted...

the freedom of speech
the freedom of religion
the right to bear arms,

if it weren't for some disablilites I would be over seas fighting for my country right now...

I LOVE America!!

I love living in America because of the many freedoms we enjoy, and I am very grateful to all the service men and women in our military who put their lives on the line every day to protect those freedoms and advance the cause of liberty and justice every day around the world.

I love living in America, especially after living in Germany for 2 1/2 years between 2005 and 2008.When you live in another Country,I think you realize more what America stands for,and appreciate the good things and our History more.
A am an older American man,who lived through WWII and the following wars we've been involved in,right up to present.Even though there are more things and situations I'm not happy with now,in our Country,I still appreciate all of the good things, opportunities and freedom we have as American Citizens, compared to most other places in the World.

Along with our Military people,we as private citizens need to be all the more aware of what is happening both inside our Country,as well as elsewhere to try to make sure our original traditions and freedoms are not taken away from us by our Government and/or other Countries and Groups within and outside of our Country.
Awareness and participation is key,as compared to complacency and unawareness of what is happening with our Country.
Hope all have a happy, safe and patriotic 4th of July weekend.

I am extremely thankful that I am able to freely worship my Lord my God without government persecution. I am thankful that I am criticize this government even on this blog without persecution. I am thankful that I am allowed to pursue my dreams even when everyone else says that it cannot be done. I am thankful for all of our past, present and future service men and women. I am thankful for all of you who work for government.

.... We must be a wonderful destination with so many struggling, begging to get in. We are blessed to be a destination nation and we should never take what that means for granted.

the rights, which have been scripted in Declaration of Indenpendece are unalienable today, as they were before 233 years. we must claim these rights again and show that America is a Society who cares about Life and unborn children!

freedom for making mistakes is freedom as making a right. we have freedom to choose mistakes or right, government or state in which we will live, car which we will drive...but freedom of mistakes is carring one big diuty which is called a holding of Thrtuhs that all men has created equal, with some certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness. so, our Feedom is a much different from other freedoms. it include a right to mistake, in many life situations, but never right to mistake at a principles of freedom. :)
