Entry bubble Do Not Call List

By: Colleen | September 09, 2009 | Category: General

The condo I'm currently renting is for sale. Usually, whenever my phone rings with a number I don't recognize, I don't answer. But now, I get calls from randoms all the time telling me that they're coming to look at the apartment, thus inconveniencing my roomate and me and threatening to leave us homeless. But I'm not bitter or anything. do not call

It seems I'm not the only one getting unwanted calls lately. Statistics show that complaints about unwanted phone calls are up 11% over the past year. And these are from people already registered on the "do-not-call list."

The current economy is to blame for the increase. Beware of callers claiming to have solutions for housing foreclosure and credit card debt.

If you've not yet registered for the do-not-call list, you can do it online at DoNotCall.gov.

Solicitors- back off. Same to anyone who wants to buy my apartment.

you should buy your condo, then you won't have to move, and you might qualify for the first time homebuyers credit if you can get closed before December 1

as for the do not call list, talk to the people at the other end, get theri company info, name etc, then file a complaint with FTC and your state attorney general. i filed 4 complaints last week, and have gotten 2 telemarketing calls on my cell phone, a big no-no from the same area code this week, i'm betting it's the same company... gonna get those rats!

I get unwanted calls from some company telling me to call my current credit card company to lower my interests rate. They call all hours of the day and are very annoying. ofcourse a credit card company would send out a letter regarding any such changes to contract. Other call is one with a loud ship horn blowing saying they are my captain and i won some free trip. Of course there is cost and fees. They call all hours of the day. Me and my husband just laugh now and hang up and say go away. I think if they fine companies that call when they are on the do not call list may be they'll stop

They should fine companies that call consumers anyway when they are on the do not call list. If it cost them money they'll proably stop harrassing people.
