Entry bubble Did You Register to Vote Yet?

By: Joanne | January 29, 2008 | Category: General

Almost all states require you to be registered to vote before election day, and voter registration laws vary from state to state. I think I’m going to change my party affiliation this year and I know that I want to vote in the primary, so I’ve got to complete my registration 30 days before the primary.

Voters at a Polling Station

You can register to vote by filling out a form and sending it in the mail, or you can contact your state election office for other options.  If you want to vote by absentee ballot, there’s paperwork you need to do for that as well, and a special process for voters overseas who want to vote by absentee ballot. Confused yet? To make it worse, deadlines for all this stuff vary from state to state so get the facts from your state elections office early—like now.

We should be required to vote like they do in the land down under. Too many people in this great country have never voted in their lives. I think if you don't vote then you have no right to complain about how the government runs things. Vote or shut up.

Citizen Jmaximus, I wish more people would vote too. I think that our society devotes way too much attention to pop culture and avoids the serious stuff. Call me an optimist, but I think our country would be a better place if people paid attention to the serious issues in their back yard and across the globe.

If you care for yourself or your kids, you should vote. People don't know how lucky we are to be an American and has the right to vote.

dcrider,
You're so right - we have a responsibility to prepare the world for future generations. Voting is one way to take control of our future.
