Entry bubble Credit Card Offers

By: Colleen | May 07, 2008 | Category: Home and Family

Few things are consistent in life. The alarm clock doesn't always go off when it's set. The Patriots ruin a perfectcredit card season by choking in the Super Bowl. A bright and sunny Saturday can turn to thunderstorms in the blink of an eye.

As far as I can tell, I can guarantee only two things:

  • If I am wearing white to dinner, something with spaghetti sauce will be served.
  • At least three times a week I will find a credit card offer in my mailbox.

Wearing white will never stop me from eating spaghetti, but I can help eliminate the seemingly endless stream of credit card offers.

Receiving these offers makes you a target for identity theft. To prevent your information from falling into the wrong hands, you should "opt out" of pre-approved offers.

You can opt out for five years or permanently.

Eliminating these offers helps protect your identity and is also eco-friendly. You're saving paper and creating less waste. It is reported that my generation is in an endless cycle of post-graduation credit card debt—so the fewer offers you get, the less temptation you have to add another card to that bulging wallet.

I really appreciate this form of communicating important useful information. I'm disabled and elderly, so being able to learn about news online makes my life a WHOLE lot safer, simpler and easier.

THIS is a good expenditure of public monies.

Thanks...

I opted to stop getting these offers over two months ago and I am still getting pre-approved solicitations. Not only credit cards but catalogues too. I wonder how long it takes for it to take affect. I also wish it applied to email too. I get a lot of pre-approved offers there too.

Some states let you lock your credit reports; unfortunately the state I live does not.

Before I give out my S.S. number to any one on the internet I would need some kind of written guarantee that if it gets out, they'll pay for all ships purchased.

And fix my identity theft just for giving them the number. This site Guarantees NOTHING.

Have a great day folks. Use the Phone and not a cell phone.

I opted out but then about 6 months later I began receiving a ton of credit card offers again... I was bummed about it but have not called to get added back to the list again or see if there was problem.

I though that once added it was good for something like 5 years. Is there any reasonwhy I might be getting a ton of these offers again?

i realize that these things that fill up your mailbox are somewhat of a pain, but let me put the view on the other side. I am a proud worker of the United States Postal Service and that ad mail and other stuff is what is keeping the postal service alive right now. The amount of first class letters has diminished and the parcel post is very competitive market. I realize that the Post Office always gets a bad rap, but lets be honest with the volume of letters that are processed on a daily basis there is a small percentage that gets lost or damaged. If you don't want the offers you get in the mail recycle the paper and think of the many postal employees that are delivering that mail you are keeping in a job. The auto industries are suffering enough. I say LETS KEEP THE POSTAL EMPLOYEES WORKING; don't get mad at the ad mail.
