Entry bubble Contacting President Barack Obama

By: Jake | January 26, 2009 | Category: Home and Family

President Barack ObamaPresident Obama will be allowed to keep his BlackBerry and this will make him the first acting president to use email. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean you and I can send him personal emails.

For his safety, the President's email address is not public. Email will only be exchanged between President Obama and his closest advisers and friends. Security programs will block any email from unauthorized addresses.

At the moment the best way to get a message to the president is to contact him at the White House contact page. This is where the White House is directing you to "send questions, comments, concerns or well-wishes to the President or his staff." You can also call the White House Comments Line at 1-202-456-1111 (TTY: 1-202-456-6213) and leave a message.

If you would like to request a greeting from the president for a marriage, anniversary, birthday or birth or extend an invitation to him for an event you will need to submit it to the White House contact page. In the future the President's office will most likely offer further instructions for these requests. You can buy the President and Vice President's official photos online from the Government Printing Office.

During his presidential transition, President Obama created the Citizen's Briefing Book, which was an online forum for people to suggest policy ideas. Would you like to see more things like this during the Obama Administration? Please tell me in the comments what else would you like to see from whitehouse.gov.

I would like to see new guidelines from the President that will make it easier for agencies to use Web 2.0 technologies. I am sure that he understands the benfits of these tools (since he has used them so effectively), so I hope he will make it possible for all government agencies to do so.

President Obama’s attachment to his mobile device raised some interesting questions for government. The most important question raised was, “How can we get things done differently?” Use of new technologies is one of those ways. Embracing communications in a secure and mobile environment is one the issues I talked about in my post on FutureFed.

You can read it at:

After reading in the paper how bad our tax system is the tax payers cant even figure it ourt I now know why I am poaying $800 to get my done. We should consider a flat tax

BUY AMERICAN SOUNDS GREAT EXCEPT -Last year The United States sold $211,898,700,000 in goods just to Canada alone.
How many United States Jobs does that represent?
30% of United States jobs rely on sales to other countries.
YOU ARE HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON CANADA FOR ENERGY
Canada has as much oil and natural gas as Saudi Arabia. Canada provides a major amount of clean electricity. So USA - just buy American energy.THE USA CREATED THE WORD'S ECONOMIC MESS. YOU HAD THE BANK MELTDOWNS You have made enemies among friends. The countries of the world are saying they will not buy American goods if the US goes "Buy American . The United States economy will only succeed with a wealthy world. THE MONEY GOING OVERSEAS WILL RETURN MANY TIMES OVER IN THE PURCHASE OF HIGHLY DESIRED AMERICAN GOODS, SERVICES AND TOURISM. So meet with the World and create a World Bail Out deal.

Taxes are needed to run the local, State and Federal Governmnets. My question is, Why in times of a economic crisis, when many American's are loosing their jobs would the local government by raising property taxes? If a family is already struggling to pay their mortgage wouldn't this increase the risk of more foreclosures? I wish the president and his team well.

I urge you to support the U.N in efforts to hold Israel responsible for breaches of international law and war crimes against the Palestinians of Gaza.

Like most Australians, I have great hopes that your leadership will be strong, responsible and moral (and I never thought that I would believe this of a U.S President).

Mr. Perez and his cabinet continue to show contempt for international opinion and for the will of the International community, in particular the U.S to hold Israel accountable.

Thus economic, and perhaps even diplomatic sanctions are the only practical and ethical response.

Please make a stand for human rights. It may be the last small chance of the Western world to get something right.

Thank you

Dear President Obama. You have the mandate of the people and the capacity to be the greatest president of all. Stop compromising to the point of weakness. We are waiting for you, but you are taking too long. The people will take to the streets unless you lead strongly. That means, speaking directly to the people and having them put the pressure on congress. Educate us. Tell us over and over what you need and who is sabotaging your program. Use all of the media often. Few in congress can understand the plight of the poor as you can. You have been in touch with the needs of the masses. Most congress people have not. We need a decisive leader NOW!!!!! We will follow if you lead.

Congratulation Mr. President what a milestone achievement. Sir my questions is, why not lower the prices of goods and services? They are drastically over inflated, this would allow our dollars more power and people would spend more if they could afford more, other wise I feel we will never recover from our problems.
why are things so unaffordable? to the average person. You cannot stimulate what is unaffordable, we will only be wasting even more.

Thank you for your time sir,
best wishes to you and your family

My cry for help!

I know I’m not alone and I know there are many less fortunate then me. I have no hope! I’m a 42 year old man no job or savings.

No income!
No savings!
No Government unemployment!

To Live
Roof over my head 1,500 mo
Health Insurance 800 mo
Heat & Electricity 150 mo
Child Support 500 mo
Car & Insurance 300 mo
Food 150 mo

Let’s say I wished but didn’t include savings, clothing or entertainment and say 0 that’s

3,400 per month after taxes needed to survive! That means I need job that pays 1,000 a week before taxes.

A job at minimum wage pays 6.55 per hour less taxes = 5.24 and if I worked 24 hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. That’s that would = a net of 87.60 per day x 365 days = 31,974 a year. 2,664.50 a month that’s without sleep or time off!

How about I worked 12 hours a day 62.88 per day = @ 7 days a week 440.16 per week

What hope do I have to continue living? At least if I were a slave I could have a roof over my head, food to eat and I my owner wanted me to do well he would gladly give me health care and give my spouse and child the same.

Last time I heard slavery is illegal! So that’s out! Jail might work for me if I didn’t care about my family because I would get housing, food and health care!

I am strong, 6’3” tall great health physically and mentally. I’m college educated and have multitudes of work experience.

I have been looking for a job for a year and nothing!

No purpose for me to live. I cant’ afford to live or support my child!

I don’t think I’m alone.

Sincerely,
An average person.

I've been trying to find out what is being done for retirees? Most of us have lost a substantial amount in this economic downturn and are having a difficult time making ends meet. Even if the economy turns around we'll never recover 50% of what was lost. I've ask the White House what is their plan for retirees and if they plan on increasing the amount of capital gains carryover loss (from $3000) to at leat $15,00 per year. I have yet to receive a reply.

Regarding closing of Guantanamo: Why must these people be 'relocated'? They were taken from their home country, why not return them home? They were all suspected of being terrorists, so why would we want them here in the States? Send them back to their families! The good guys will still be good guys, and the bad guys will continue in their activities no matter where they are. Let them sort it all out at their home, not ours.

Dear President Obama, I am an 85 yr old citizen who has seen what war does to our young men. I implore you to read Lord Tennyson's "The Charge of the Light Brigade" or watch the movie and then ponder the responsibility you hold if you send more troops to Afghanistan. It will only lead to further heartache and will achieve nothing to the benefit of the United States or the Afghani people. It is not up to us to be involved in the internal strife of people in other regions in a miitary conflict. It is up to us to help these people in an humanitarian way. Let us use the money it would cost to send troops to instead improve the lives of the people and in so doing save many of the lives of our young men.

I beg you from the bottom of my heart to change your mind about sending troops to Afghanistan or anywhere because it will not solve anything. Thank you.

If America is to recover from its present economic crisis, we need to develop our own oil fields. We have more oil than the Middle East, so why are we enriching OPEC and bankrupting ourselves? Opening the oil fields would create new job opportunities. Part of the oil produced could be sold to other nations with the proceeds going toward paying off the national debt.

The oil companies made billions of profit when the pump prices were skyrocketing. They should be tapped for part of the cost, but by no means given full control over the development or wealth resulting from our oil. It is a national resource, not one for private industries to utilize at only their benefit. America will never be free while the OPEC nations and the domestic oil companies dictate how much every citizen of this nation must pay for transportation to work. There are many who cannot get where the jobs are because the cost of getting there wipes them out financially. This must change if we are ever to recover.

Dear President Obama,
I cannot agree more that education is the key to the furture for our children. However, education is also the key to adults like myself, a mother, grandmother, and wife who returned to school to better herself. My problem is that most of us are forced to take out a student loan that can become a hinder to our financial stability. Take a company like SallieMae. A large corporation with a diversity of department whom appear not to communicate with each other. For example, I sent in a forbearance application for myself and my daughter regarding her school loan. I not only asked that our application be considered but that they mail the documentation that proves I co-signed for my daughter who was of age to apply herself. I consistently get phone calls regarding payment but have yet to receive a reply to my written requests. I returned to school to get a BA in Psychology, the lender that supplied me with a student loan because the school I attended would not let me apply as an independent, refused, after sending in documentation that I am not able to pay the amount they are requesting, which is over half of my paycheck, refuse to work with me.
Who's checking on these instutions that are supplying student loans? What are their guidelines and how do we get them to get every department to communicate with each other? Education we need but what good is it if we are paying for it the rest of our lives?

I await your comment!
Thank you

Dear President Obama,
I am a 58 year old woman that has worked and paid taxes for the majority of the last 44 years. My children are grown and struggling to maintain their own lives. I live alone (relationship of 10 years fell apart along with the economy), I have diabeties and gall stones that really need to come out. But, because I'n not under 21 or have underage children in the home nor am an illegal alien (and yes, these are the list of individuals eligible for medicaid), nor am I eligible for Medicare (too young) I can't get any government help for my health. I've been out of work for over a year and in April, my final extension on unemployment runs out and just about all the experts agree, we won't even begin to see any new jobs for another year or so and even then, based on my experience with potential employers, odds are that any job I apply for will go to a younger person. Therefore, where is the help for me? I've worked and paid taxes for 44 years, struggled and raised my children to be taxpaying contributors, I drive a 18 year old car, have no savings and am hanging onto my home by a thread so, what happens to me? Do I just end up homeless and on the street. I have written via email the white house a couple of times and while I appreciate you gets millions of emails, what happens to be when I run out of medication in 2 weeks and can't find a way to get any more. You try going to the county facility and they treat you like you are the one solely responsible for their multimillion dollar debt. You already feel bad enough and they make you feel worse. So, where is my assistance?

Dear President Obama, Helping the automotive industry is essential for our overall economic health. I have an idea that I would like to share with you and your team. Instead of just giving GM and Chrysler money.....I propose that the Government order cars. One for each person who has served or is serving in Iraq. It would be a lottery system of who gets the more expensive vehicles or by rank.
Families that have lost a loved one would also receive a car. The car would be tax free. The vehicles could not be sold for 18 months. This would be a large order and the factories would be busy.
Certainly anyone who has served this country deserves a bonus!
It's a win, win! How could people be mad about a bailout if it was a military bonus. Thank you for listening.

Dear President Obama,
I watched you on CNN, my favorite new channel, on Tuesday, February 24th. I was so inspired and proud to know you have been put in office by the people as we worked and collaborated together as a team to encourage people to vote and also worked hard to pound the pavement to get people to register to vote.
I worked with Lawrence Community Works with a group of people that went out to the streets and high-traffic public places to get the residents of Lawrence to register to vote. We were able to get 500 people to register to vote. This was a historic moment for the people of Lawrence, MA.
There is a group of citizens and employed people at LCW working together to create a website called, "Yes We Will". It it not finished yet, but should be accessible sometime by the 3rd week of March. We have committed to meet Tuesdays and Thursdays to make decisions about the logo design, website, etc.
Many times local government keeps secrets about information, such as jobs, election information, etc. I call it local mafia. Although they know what the people need, there is many times selfish choices made evolving around greed and favors. I feel local government has little to no accountability. Local government contributes to lack of trust in officials, not just state or federal officials. Something needs to be done about the choices that are being mde.
One example I can think of is how local government is given the authority to allow/disallow particular cable companies. I've been told only Comcast is on the list for Lawrence. Why is this? There is so much monopolization being practiced by local government. Many times jobs are given to people, no friends, who aren't even qualified to do the job, but if that person's wife works in the library, her husband can apply and be given the job, despite his lack of qualifications.
I have more to say, but will leave this for you to chew on. I am a grad student at UMass Boston, Women in Politics and Public Policy, I met you in Manchester and handed my card, an old card. I couldn't find my regular card. Guess what? I have a Lincoln Memorial icon and it says, "Stand up for Social Justice, Abraham Lincoln did", designed 9/07. May God protect, lead, and guide you out of this ridiculous mess. Power to the People and to those who are on our side!

Dear President Barack Obama,

I will be knocking on your door on May 20, 2010 to either congratulate you for keeping your promise to remove all troops from Iraq by this date, or to remind you of your promise. In Corvallis, Oregon there has been a DAILY vigil since Oct. 2001 in front of our Benton County Courthouse to oppose the illegal war in Iraq. I am dismayed at the rolling of the drums for even more war in Afghanistan. Where is the CHANGE, where is the HOPE?

No more war, no more nukes, no more deaths by the U.S. military. We welcomed you as President with hopes of ENDING THE WAR!

to Jeanne Raymond, I second your opinion of war but please remember that Mr. Obama's promise was to pull troops out of Iraq, he never made pretenses of pulling troops from Afghanistan and even indicated we would go into Pakistan if that what was needed to keep America and American troops safe.

I am enthusiastic and retain the HOPE that Barack Obama inspired.

I have two ideas: (1) There is a need to relate education & school learning at the high school and Junior/Community College levels to planned, new, potentially new and existing employment requirements of the 21st Century.
(2) I suggest that an OBAMA VIRTUAL BRAIN TRUST be established, with Coordinators & Assistant Coordinators working at the White House level and Virtual Coordinators and Virtual Coordinator Assistants designated out there in hyperspace. These volunteers, who presumably enjoy general-purpose problem-solving (as I do), delight in brainstorming and regularly employ other idea-generating methodologies could prove to be an important special resource for OBAMA and his advisors. Of course, anyone to be considered for the OBAMA VIRTUAL BRAIN TRUST would have to undego scrutiny of the most in-depth kind (I still have the information used in my last Top Secret Clearance) and submit a sample (or samples) of what they could do for the TRUST

President Kennedy gave out medals of achievement. I wish President Obama would create a medal which recognizes a person for promoting the value of the human condition. I hope that the people he invites to the White House are persons who promote American goodness. I would like him to award medals to Bratt Pitt and Harry Conick Jr for the work they did in New Orleans. I would like him to honor Thomas Kinkade, the painter for the values he paints of American life. I would like him to honor writer Nicholas Sparks for the warmth he shows of family relationships Ron Howard would be a good receptient because of the movie subjects he has selected to direct. Michael Moore should be honored for stirring up subjects that the main media neglects. Oprah should be honored for awakening the consciences of television home viewers and getting them to think. As a Democrat, the President needs to promote the values that are important to Democrats.

Dear President Obama:
I owe you an apology! My last e-mails stated I would owe the gov't $400 on a quick estimation of my taxes. Praise the Lord, I was wrong. AARP at our Sr Center did my taxes, no charge, and I am getting a refund. As I stated I am 74 and am unable to retire as my SS is net $984. Rent and fixed bills come to $1200 per month...my son is not working...he lost his job in October. No unemployment as he had to quit...thejob after 1 1/2 yrs sent him to the hospital with bleeding from the stomach (stress). As a result, I am sole wage earner. With cervical, thoracic, lumbar herniated disks which brought about scoliosis and with fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. I have a problem getting medications (lack of money). I work per diem at the PBX at the local hospital for the funds to pay bills, obtain medications, food and gas...doesn't always work out.
I have a suggestion that may help many obtain help monetarily for meds and medical procedures....instead of gross income use net income. In order to obtain help from ACHHS for medical procedures, I am $17 over the limit. They use the gross SS and my part time salary (per diem and don't always work each month only when one of the other PBX operators take time off) As a result, I am unable to obtain epidurals for my back whch would alleviate much pain and make it easier to walk. Just a tho't.
Again,I want you to know that you have my support and know without a doubt you are doing all you can for us 'middle income' constituents. We realize this all takes time and we are with you! Thank you for all you do. and please take care of yourself and your wonderful family! Nancy

Here is a fool-proof way to quickly reduce and/or eliminate the federal deficit.........................Double the price of all alcoholic beverages sold and consumed, with 100% of the increase directed solely for the purpose of eliminating the outrageous deficit in the budget. With all the drunks in the US, the deficit will be eliminated in short time and we will all be on the road to recovery.

What I would like to see is budget raises for the state employees, especially in the Access areas. These are the people on the front lines, working directing with the people and serving the needs of the people. There are all of these budget cuts and programs that are cut out totally. We need some of the programs, especially one that is needed would be the medicaid for ages 18 to 64 years old with minimum to low income. These people cannot get medicaid if they do not have children, pregnant, or medical emergencies. Just as one lady commented that she does not have enough to purchase her meds, she was $17 over the limit because gross income was used instead of her net income. How can this be? Health insurance should be given to every American in the United States.
