Image description: In June, biologists at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute received a report of a manatee trapped in a retention pond system. The manatee swam over a spillway during high water associated with a tropical storm but could not swim out once the water receded. The manatee was rescued and the bottom photo shows the release in Pinellas County waters.
